Rs5cr KBC winner meets Montek, gives inputs on social schemes
Sushil Kumar, a MNREGA worker who recently hit a Rs5 crore jackpot, on Tuesday got a taste of his newly-attained status symbol as he interacted with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on the ambitious rural development schemes and even gave his inputs.
Kumar, who hails from a village in Motihari in Bihar, got the treat of a typical posterboy as the brand ambassador for Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) scheme visited the Yojana Bhawan here.
"There was exchange of ideas about the flagship schemes, particularly MNREGA," remarked Kumar who used to earn his livelihood by working under the rural employment guarantee scheme before winning Rs5 crore in 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' programme earlier this month.
Asked about his views on MNREGA, he said there are glitches but opined that the positive side of the scheme should also be considered.
There should be continuous efforts to improve the social sector schemes to make them a big hit, he underlined.
The staff members of the Planning Commission were seen vying with each other to be clicked with Kumar, as if he were some star.
