RSS: CBI leaked Swami confession
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday charged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of deliberately leaking the confession of Swami Aseemanand in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh said the confession by Swami Aseemanand was given under duress. Aseemanand is considered close to some of the senior Sangh Parivar leaders.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Ram Madav said: “This deliberate leaking of document confirms further the alleged interest of agencies is not to probe cases but malign the reputation of the organisations and individuals.”
Mr Madhav claimed that the statements leaked to the media confirmed that “they must have been taken under duress”.
Noting that the confessions were “all contradictory and there is no credible evidence”, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader said lawyers were scrutinising the documents.
“Once again the CBI stood up to its reputation of being the Congress Bureau of Investigation,” Mr Madhav said.
Aseemanand, who worked for Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram in Dangs in Gujarat, reportedly confessed about his involvement in the Samjhauta train blast before a magistrate.
He is also a prime accused in the Mecca Masjid blast case.
The BJP also reacted to this by alleging that the CBI is doing these “selective leaks” to implicate certain leaders of the RSS which is “highly condemnable”.
The party said it will welcome action against anyone if found guilty of or involved in terror attacks.
