RSS top brass meets over BJP PM candidate
Amidst growing demand from a section within the BJP to announce the name of the party’s prime ministerial candidate soon, the RSS top brass, including Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, held consultations with senior Sangh functionaries on Thursday. RSS is micro-managing BJP’s poll affairs. Gujarat chief minister and BJP’s election campaign committee head Narendra Modi is considered as the top contender for the PM candidate post.
With the RSS top brass camping in Delhi, speculation is rife within the BJP that a BJP’s PM candidate could be announced by next month, even though a section within the party is not in favour of announcing the name at this juncture. Sources disclosed even within the RSS there are two views on announcing the BJP’s PM candidate at this juncture.
On Thursday, a presentation on poll-related issues was held for BJP’s parliamentary board members. Mr Modi was also present. Later, BJP chief Rajnath Singh held a dinner party for BJP MPs and board members.
The RSS top brass will be meeting members of its various committees in the coming days. Sources disclosed the RSS wants the BJP to focus on coordination at different levels between party leaders and workers. While good governance and development are BJP’s main poll planks, RSS also wants the party to blend in Hindutva. VHP’s “84 kosi parikrama” is also seen as a part of the RSS ploy to revive the Ram Mandir issue ahead of the crucial poll in order to polarise the votes.
