Sabarimala toll 102, judge to hold probe
The number of Sabarimala pilgrims who died in the stampede at Pulmedu near Vandiperiyar on Friday night has risen to 102, our correspondent reports.
Of the dead, 25 were from Karnataka, 18 from Andhra, 27 from Tamil Nadu and five from Kerala. Twelve bodies are yet to be identified and six of the dead are children.
Doctors who did the post-mortems said most pilgrims died of internal injuries after being trampled.
Kerala chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan, who rushed to Kumili Saturday morning, said a sitting high court judge would conduct a probe.
