Sangh to replace BJP observer
Senior RSS leader Suresh Soni, who is the Sangh’s political observer in the BJP, is likely to be replaced by one of his colleagues.
Sources disclosed the suggestion to replace Mr Soni, the RSS joint general secretary, came up during a recent meeting between senior RSS leaders. The issue was also discussed with the BJP’s top brass, sources said, adding that Mr Soni’s colleague Madan Das Devi could replace him soon. RSS general secretary Bhaiya Ji Joshi m
ight also be roped in to assist Mr Devi, sources said.
Sources disclosed the issue to relieve Mr Soni from the post of the BJP’s political observer cropped up after a section of BJP leaders expressed their reservations against Mr Soni’s continuance as the political observer. A section within the BJP had recently complained to the party’s top brass against Mr Soni for interfering in party related matters.
Sources said Mr Soni was also criticised for unnecessarily interfering in the recent appointment of state unit chiefs in UP and MP.
Also, Mr Soni is the only senior RSS leader who, it was learnt, is against the reinduction of former BJP leader and saffron sanyasin Uma Bharti in the party. He had often expressed his displeasure on the issue with senior RSS leaders, sources said. But most of the senior RSS leaders as well as a section of the BJP’s top brass are in favour of Ms Bharti’s return to the party.
Talks have already been initiated in the party for her re-induction amidst stiff opposition from a section, including the party’s Madhya Pradesh unit.
