SC issues notice to govt on coal block allocations
The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre on alleged irregularities in coal block allocations.
A division bench said the alleged irregularities in coal block allocations required an explanation from the government.
Further, the ruling said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) was a constitutional authority and there was nothing wrong in relying on its report on block allocations.
The apex court turned down the government's plea that it should not go into the issue as the PAC was looking into it.
The SC granted eight weeks time to Centre to file its response on the alleged irregularities in coal block allocation.
