SC may seek gen.’s service record
The possibility of the Supreme Court summoning entire service record of General V.K. Singh to know the genesis of the controversy from the day it started, could not be ruled out as it is the standard practice followed in the service matters to go at the bottom of a dispute.
Though the top court has not yet listed Gen. Singh’s petition, there is possibility of it being taken up with a PIL already filed on the issue by advocate D.K. Garg earlier. The PIL was even listed for hearing on December 17 but due to Justice T.S. Thakur in a division bench sitting with Justice B.S. Chauhan “recusing” from the case, no effective hearing could take place on that day. The PIL on behalf of Rohtak-based association of ex-Army personnel, is likely to come up on January 20.
The MoD is expected by the top court to explain its position on four main legal questions raised by Gen. Singh.
