SC rejects AP plea against compensation
The Supreme has rejected the Andhra Pradesh government’s plea for reducing the compensation to farmers whose land was acquired for setting up of the police academy near Hyderabad two decades ago.
The farmers who fought for higher compensation at three levels of judicial system all these years, were allowed payment at the rate of `1.5 lakh per acre by a bench of Justices R.V. Raveendran and H.L. Gokhale.

Flight takeoff cancelled after bomb hoax

Jan. 15: A domestic flight to New Delhi had to abort takeoff after a passenger, who was later found to be a paranoid schizophrenic, started shouting about a bomb on the plane, sparking panic among the 169 people on board.
According to the airport authorities, the Go-Air flight G8-230 that was scheduled to leave the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport at 9.50 am on Saturday.

NDMA creates disaster plan for Ladakh

Jan. 15: The NDMA is preparing a District Disaster Management Plan for Ladakh. A high-level delegation consisting of elected Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) met NDMA vice-chairman M. Shashidhar Reddy who said that the NDMA would not only help create a disaster management plan but also impart community-based disaster preparedness and awareness taking into account all possible disasters.
