SC rejects plea for case transfer
The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the plea of city’s dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar to transfer the trial for the alleged murder of their teen age daughter Aarushi and domestic help to Patiala House Court and ruled that special CBI judge at Ghaziabad would continue to hear the case.
However, a bench of Justices B.S. Chauhan and J.S. Khehar gave a major relief to the couple against constant media gaze on their trial proceedings and directed the special judge to restrict the media presence in the court room.
The top court restrained any other person not associated with the case from entering the trial court considering the media hype on the case and also a pending PIL filed by senior advocate Surat Singh, seeking to restrain media from filing speculative reports, which virtually was termed as an attempt to “demean” a minor girl, who was killed in a tragic but mysterious circumstances.
Besides, the CBI and the Ghaziabad district administration and the police have been directed to make “adequate” security arrangement during the trial, especially in the backdrop of Rajesh Talwar being attacked in 2011 by a person.
