Scared Korean couple jumps off elephant
The authorities said two South Korean tourists were injured when they jumped off out of fear from an elephant at a historical Amber fort in Jaipur on Sunday. The South Korean couple was riding on an elephant while it clashed with another elephant. The couple — Doil Kwon and Kim — jumped off from the animal out of the fear.
The injured Korean couple was taken to a private hospital in Jaipur. According to the Amber police, one of them sustained fracture in a leg while other one got head injury. The elephant ride is a popular sport among tourists visiting the fort.
The authorities had allowed around 100 elephants for tourist rides.

Woman set on fire after trivial dispute

Feb. 20: A young woman was set on fire by a village pradhan and his henchmen in Meerut district, following a trivial land dispute on Saturday.
The victim, Geeta Jogi , 24, died late on Saturday night in the hospital where she had been admitted with over 70 per cent burn injuries. In her dying declaration before a magistrate, she has named Asif, the pradhan of her village Narhera in Meerut, his brother and aide as accused.
According to police reports, the incident took place after a dispute over the construction of a drain. Geeta’s family members allege that Asif was getting an artificial public pond constructed in the village and the drain for supply of water to the pond was passing through Geeta’s father, Chandrabhan Jogi’s fields.

2,400 fishermen stopped by Lankan Navy
Rameswaram, Feb. 20: About 2,400 fishermen, who put out to sea from here in 600 mechanised boats, were allegedly stopped in mid-sea off this coastal town by the Sri Lankan Navy early this morning and asked to return.
President of local Fishermen’s Association Yesu Raja told reporters here that the Sri Lankan naval men, who came in four boats warned them at “gunpoint” to return while they were fishing between Dhanushkodi and Katcha-theevu and that they had crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line.

Thief held for stealing garlic sacks

Feb. 20: The soaring prices of garlic caught attention of thieves in Jodhpur where a thief caught on CCTV camera while stealing the gunny bags of garlics. The Jodhpur police has arrested Kanhiyalal Sansi following his identification on the camera. The police detained him after a local trader Premaram Parihar lodged an FIR saying some one continuously stealing garlics from his shop.
The trader got fed up with number of incidents of theft from his shop and he fitted CCTV camera in his shop.
