School peon held for bomb hoax in Kerala
A peon of the Mahatma High School, Chennithala, in Kerala was arrested on Sunday for creating a false alarm that a bomb was planted on the school ground where chief minister Oomen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala addressed a function on Friday.
Mannar Police said the peon, Prasanth Kumar, 30, of Prasanth Bhavan in Kizhakkevazhi in Tripperunthara village, was arrested for creating an alarm which later turned out to be a hoax.
The chief minister and the KPCC president who were attending the diamond jubilee celebrations of the school had already left the venue at 2 p.m., and the “alert” call came at 3.30 p.m.
The peon had spread word that a call to the landline of the school had warned that a bomb was planted on the school ground, the venue of the meeting.
Police said the peon had some grouse against the school management, and his aim was to embarrass the management.
