Seat-sharing talks a closed chapter: Azad
Union health and family welfare minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stated that differences of opinion between DMK and the Congress over seat sharing in Tamil Nadu Assembly elections is a closed chapter and both the parties are working hard to retain power in the state.
Mr Azad said every thing is finalised over TN Assembly elections and both the parties are fighting the polls together. “Differences of opinion over number of seats are a closed chapter,” he said. He expressed confidence that the DMK-Congress alliance will return to power in the state.
Mr Azad also denied any type of nepotism in the distribution of Congress tickets in Tamil Nadu saying candidates are selected based on collective opinion. “We had a very right system in place to select candidates in the state,” he said. On the allegations that TNCC pesident K.V. Thangkabalu got a ticket for his wife and preferred his associates over the party activists while selecting candidates, he said there is no truth in it. On the charges of rampant corruption under UPA regime including 2G scam, Mr Azad hit back at the BJP saying the party has no moral right to question the UPA as it is doing nothing against the corrupt leaders of the party.
“We have made many of our leaders accountable. Many have even gone to jail. But BJP has not initiated disciplinary against any single tainted leader of the party. Karnataka CM B.S.Yeddyurappa is the best example of this,” he said.
