Security scenario like volcano: Naik
On the occasion of Air Force Day on Friday, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik said the “current security scenario (in the country’s neighbourhood) is like a volcano” since it could “erupt” anytime. He called on the IAF to be prepared to meet any eventuality, should the need arise.
“The current security scenario is like a volcano and may test your skills anytime without warning. These times require swift action and commitment,” the IAF chief told IAF personnel, on the occasion of the Air Force Parade at the Hindon air-base in UP’s Ghaziabad district.
The IAF chief later told reporters he had used the word “volcano” since “we don’t know when it is going to erupt. It may erupt in 100 years or it may erupt tomorrow, that is why.”
“Our speed of response, flexibility and precise employment of aerospace assets will be the key to success...” the IAF chief told IAF personnel.
An impressive flypast also took place at Hindan on Friday that included fighter aircraft such as the Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-29s and Mirage-2000s. The IAF aerobatic Surya Kiran aircraft also carried out a display on the occasion.
