Sena workers attack TV studio, arrested
Kolhapur (Maha), July 17: The Shiv Sena activists led by a local MLA stormed the studio of a news channel and assaulted a Kannada Rakshana Vedike leader for his alleged remarks against party supremo, Mr Bal Thackeray, during a TV discussion on Maharashtra-Karnataka border row.
Around 20-25 people led by the MLA, Mr Rajesh Kshirsagar, barged into the television studio and attacked Vedike’s Mr Syed Mansoor, on Friday night, police said adding they also vandalised studio property.
Mr Kshirsagar and eight others were arrested on Saturday for the attack, they said.
Mr Mansoor was later escorted by the police to Karnataka.
“Kshirsagar and eight others were arrested at 1.30 pm and later released on a bail of Rs 15,000 each by the chief judicial magistrate B.C. Kamble,” an official at Shahupuri police station said.
“We are not against any news channel and media people. We were only protesting against Kannad Rakshan Vedika organisation,” the MLA said after his release.
Suspected Sangh Parivar activists barged into a building housing Headlines Today and its sister channel Aaj Tak here in Delhi on Friday evening and damaged furniture.
