Sex racket busted, six Uzbeks arrested
Six Uzbek women who visited India on tourist visas but became call girls were held here, the second time in just a week that foreigners have been arrested for prostitution.
The arrests were made on Sunday night from Greater Kailash II in south Delhi, a police officer said. They were in the age group of 23 to 28 years.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand said the women were led by a woman pimp, also from Uzbekistan, who had operated in Delhi and adjoining areas for three years.
She is on the run.
"It has been learnt that she has ostensibly married an Indian national to live in India," said Chand.
The pimp brought young women from her country to Delhi regularly.
"She arranged for their transport and accommodation. She arranged for clients to meet the girls," said Chand.
The call girls resided at Greater Kailash II, Safdarjung Enclave and Arjun Nagar in south Delhi.
On July 18, six women, from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Nepal, and an Indian male pimp, were arrested from South Extension area of south Delhi.
Five calls girls were arrested each on July 12 and 20 - from Rohini in north Delhi and Chhatarpur Enclave in south Delhi.
