Shah’s present base is Mumbai
Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah, who was arrested in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, has made Mumbai his temporary base. The Supreme Court had ordered Shah to stay out of Gujarat till the CBI’s plea seeking cancellation of his bail is heard on November 15.
According to sources, Shah left for Mumbai from Ahmedabad by a flight on Sunday, complying with the SC’s directive. Shah will put up with his relative in Mumbai.
However, the Bharatiya Janata Party members claimed that they had no knowledge about Shah’s whereabouts in Mumbai. “We got to know about Shah’s departure from the news channels. There was no intimation about it at the party level, as it was not necessary. If Shah is in Mumbai, he could be staying with his relatives,” said Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari.
Meanwhile, accusing the Congress of repeatedly misusing CBI to serve its political interests, the BJP on Sunday said the “haste” shown by the investigation agency in seeking the cancellation of bail granted to Shah was the latest example to prove the charge.

BJP steps up pressure to call back governor
AGE CORRESPONDENT
New Delhi
Oct. 31: Enthused by the Karnataka high court’s decision upholding the disqualification of rebel party MLAs by the Speaker, which ensured survival of the B.S. Yeddyurappa government in the state, the BJP on Sunday stepped up pressure on the Centre to recall governor H.R. Bhardwaj from the state. The party accused the governor for destabilising its government in the state.
Claiming that the governor’s credibility has further suffered and the institution of the high constitutional office has come under cloud, senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said, “After the landmark judgment of the Karnataka high court upholding the Speaker’s decision, the governor should have submitted his resignation and left the state which he did not do.” Further continuance of the governor would add shame to the exalted office, he added in a statement issued by the party.
Mr Naidu said despite assurance by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to a BJP delegation to look into the complaints against Mr Bhardwaj, no action has so far been taken. “The BJP, therefore, once again urges the Prime Minister and the UPA government to take immediate steps to recall the governor,” he said.
