Shaky Chandrababu Naidu writes to Manmohan Singh
Hyderabad: Fearing that he may lose out in the political race if there is a backlash from the Seemandhra regions, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has joined Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in urging the Centre to address burning Seemandhra issues immediately.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Naidu blames the Congress for the present turmoil in the Seemandhra region, consequent to the decision to spin off Telangana into a separate state, and attributes it to the lack of consultation with stakeholders on various issues, including the status of Hyderabad.
He wrote that though most parties had agreed to the formation of Telangana state, the decision of the Congress Working Committee to form the new state without clarifying several issues about the future of the Seemandhra region, has thrown the entire region into a state of shock, depression and unprecedented agitation.
Naidu: Congress created chaos
Hyderabad: In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu said, “The manner in which the decision was taken by the Congress, without adequate consultation process, with the stake holders before announcing the final decision is responsible for this chaos.”
He said that Digvijay Singh has stated that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti would merge with the Congress and this clearly reflects the narrow political thinking of the Congress for its own political gains. Further, Digvijay Singh’s inconsistent statements about the status of Hyderabad aggravated the situation in all parts of the state.
“When a decision of this magnitude having severe repercussions on the future of 8.5 crore people of the state is taken, it is expected that the government of India would consult all the stake holders before taking the final decision,” Naidu said in the letter.
“Unfortunately, when a major decision of bifurcation of the state was taken, the Congress conducted itself as if it is their internal affair. Since 2004, the Congress has adopted a flip flop policy each time to appease one region or the other to gain political advantage.” he said in the letter that as the Prime Minister of the country, Dr Singh has the responsibility of resolving the complex problem created by the Congress which has created serious doubts in the minds of Seemandhra people.
“They are worried about their fate in respect of education and jobs for their children, their security and future in Hyderabad, sharing of river water resources, the resources needed for running the ongoing programmes and for other developments in the new state. The government employees are also worried about their future.”
He added, “The entire Seemandhra region is emotionally disturbed about their likely separation from Hyderabad with which they have developed economic and emotional attachment in the last five decades.”
