Shankar Rao seeks Jagan’s early release from jail
Hyderabad: In a strange demand, former minister Dr P. Shankar Rao on Tuesday sought early release of YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy from jail.
Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here, Shankar Rao demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation submit its final charge sheet in the Jagan's Disproportionate Assets case as this would facilitate Jagan's early release on bail.
He said that although he was against Jagan's corruption, he wants him to get released from jail where he has spent a very long time.
"Jagan is my son's classmate. I'm against his corruption, but also sympathise for him as he has been lodged in judicial custody for a very long time. He is like my son," Shankar Rao said adding that he would approach the court if the CBI fails to submit its final charge sheet by September 9.
However, Shankar Rao condemned Jagan's indefinite fast in favour of Samaikhyandhra in Chanchalguda Jail. Seeking an enquiry against those who permitted Jagan's fast, he said that such incidents would set a bad trend and jail inmates across the country would indulge in such protests to create Law and Order problems.
The Secunderabad Cantonment MLA said that he would protest before the Chanchalguda Jail, if Jagan was not stopped from continuing his hunger strike.
