Sharm el-Sheikh info: HC allows govt’s plea
Upholding the Centre’s stand, the Delhi high court on Friday allowed its petition challenging an order of the Central Information Commission (CIC), which permitted the RTI activist, Subhash Chandra Aggarwal, to inspect files pertaining to the controversial Sharm el-Sheikh joint statement between India and Pakistan in Egypt in July 2009.
The Centre told the court of Justice S. Muralidhar that the MEA had not maintained any kind of record pertaining to the joint statement between India and Pakistan and if any kind of information or material would be disclosed to anybody under the RTI Act, then it would have “large-scale adverse ramification” for the country.
