Sheep more loyal than MLAs: Naidu

Lashing out at TD legislators for jumping ship and joining either the YSR Congress or the TRS, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said even sheep were more loyal than the legislators.

“These MLAs do not have loyalty to their party and its ideology, not even as much loyalty shown by sheep,” Naidu said at one of the roadside meetings on his padayatra in Mahbubnagar district on Wednesday.

He said that both the YSRC and the TRS were indulging in horse-trading and luring his party MLAs with financial packages.

“The TD MLAs who now talk in favour of Jagan and are switching sides have become saleable commodities, something not expected from legislators. Jagan is able to buy people even while cooling his heels in jail. He looted (the state) like a bandicoot during his father’s regime and earned Rs 1 lakh crore, now he is purchasing the MLAs with that ill-gotten money,” Naidu said.

He added, “I must tell you this story. Two days ago, a farmer named Lakshmi came to see me along with her sheep, I asked her why she had brought her sheep along, she replied that she did not bring the sheep, they just followed her. Some of my MLAs do not have even that much loyalty,” he said.

Accusing the Congress, the YSRC and the TRS of colluding with one another to damage the TD’s image in the state, Naidu questioned the rationale of the TRS in trying to stage protests during his padayatra while it silently allowed Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to complete his three-day Indiramma Baata in Medak district and Y.S. Vijayalakshmi’s public meeting in Bhongir on Monday.

Naidu also took pot shots at the Chief Minister for criticising his promise to waiver farmers’ loan.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
