Shobha ready for life outside BJP?
Bengaluru: It’s official. Energy minister Shobha Karandlaje on Tuesday announced her decision to quit the BJP and join Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), led by former chief minister B.S.Yeddyurappa.
Addressing BJP workers of her Assembly constituency, Yeshwantpur, the minister who attracted the ire of senior BJP leaders by lambasting CM Jagadish Shettar for spiralling cases of rape in Karnataka, said a day after Mr Shettar ruled out her ouster from the cabinet, “I am certain to join KJP. If you (workers) support my decision, then I will contest from Yeshwantpur.”
The minister who denied to the media that she had sent her resignation letter to Mr Shettar, had while speaking to workers, slammed BJP senior central leaders for ruining the careers of leaders in Karnataka, particularly “those who worked for the party’s success in several electoral battles.”
