SIT questions Kripashankar
Former Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh was on Monday questioned by the special investigating team for nearly five hours in connection with allegations of assets disproportionate to income.
Mr Singh was questioned in the Mumbai police headquarters for an hour, after which he was taken to an undisclosed location and questioned for four more hours to avoid media glare. Activist Sanjay Tiwari has filed a PIL in the Bombay high court questioning the wealth amassed illegally by Mr Singh, his wife Malti Devi, son Narendra Mohan and daughter Sunita, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Their wealth allegedly exceeded `350 crores. The high court had directed the police to treat Mr Tiwari’s petition as an FIR. “Various questions related to his properties were asked and he was cooperative in his replies,” said an official, without divulging the exact posers. Asked if he would be called again, the officer replied in the negative and added that Mr Singh’s family members might be called for recording statements at a later date. The SC had, in September, granted eight weeks time to the SIT to complete its probe into the alleged amassing of wealth disproportionate to the known sources of income of Mr Singh.

Rani’s brother held for molestation
Age Correspondent
Mumbai, Oct. 15
The Versova police on Monday arrested Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee’s brother Raja for allegedly molesting a woman. The incident took place on Sunday night when the complainant, a 40-year-old woman, who is also a television actress, had gone to meet Rani to narrate a script.
According to the complaint filed by the woman, she had tried to get in touch with Rani, but could not get an appointment. She finally got in touch with her brother Raja, who agreed to give her an audience.
However, when she met Raja in his car to narrate the script, he tried to behave indecently with her and also attempted to molest her, she has alleged.
“The complainant approached the police and a complaint was filed, following which we arrested Raja. We have booked him under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code,” said additional commissioner of police, Vishwas Nangre-Patil.
Following the arrest, Raja was sent for a medical test. He was later produced in an Andheri court on Monday that released him on a bail bond of `10,000. Raja is also a small-time producer.
When contacted, the spokesperson for Rani said that the family doesn’t want to comment on the development.
