SIT summons Zadaphia on Monday

Gujarat’s former junior home minister Gordhan Zadaphia, who parted ways with chief minister Narendra Modi, has been summoned for questioning on Monday by the Supreme Court appointed SIT investigating some of the 2002 riot cases afresh.
Mr Zadaphia, who was minister of state for home during the post-Godhra riots, has been asked to remain present for questioning on Monday, officials associated with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) said on Saturday night. This will be the fifth time that Mr Zadaphia will be questioned by the SIT in connection with the 2002 riots over a year.

UPA wants to derail Orissa growth: BJD

Continuing its tirade against the Centre, the ruling BJD on Saturday accused that the Congress-led UPA government always wanted to “derail” the ongoing development process in Orissa “as the state is being ruled by a non-Congress party.”
The BJD leaders, addressing a public rally at Jagatsinghpur, fired on all cylinders to portray the UPA government and its chairpersons Sonia Gandhi as “elements of obstructions” standing in the path of the state’s progress.
Industry minister Raghunath Mohanty described the Union government “anti-poor” and “thoroughly partisan.”

BJP attacks Centre on food storage

The BJP on Saturday blasted the UPA-led Congress government on the issue of rotting food grains. The former president of the BJP Mr Rajnath Singh, addressing the farmers came down heavily on the Centre over the storage facilities and the minimum support prices being given to the farmers.
The BJP held a dharna in the capital demanding better storage facilities among other things. Last month, the SC had observed that the government should give foodgrains to the poor instead of allowing them to rot. Mr Rajnath Singh called on the farmers to take on the government over the issue.
