Six Dalits raped across Mayaland

Lucknow, Feb. 8: Six rape cases involving Dalit girls have been reported in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, adding to the woes of the Mayawati government that is already facing an embarrassing situation over the rape of girls in Banda and Fatehpur districts.

A 16-year-old Dalit girl was assaulted by her neighbor, Ram Sewak, in Unnao district.

When the girl resisted the rape attempt, she was stabbed in the jaw and shoulder by the accused. The girl has been admitted in a hospital in Kanpur.

According to police reports, another Dalit girl was raped by three men in Nade Mau village in Kannauj district. The three accused have been arrested.

A rape attempt was made on a five-year-old girl in Gautam Buddha Nagar by two men who took her inside a gym.

The girl’s screams attracted a crowd that rescued her and beat up the two men before handing them over to the police.
A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Kunda Khurd village in Saharanpur district.

Police sources said that Alimuddin raped the girl on Monday night. He has now been arrested while the girl has been sent for medical examination.

Dalit girls were also raped in Sultanpur and Barabanki in separate incidents on Tuesday but details are not available.
