Six Madras IITians bag $150K offer
Saturday was a day of joy for the faculty and students of IIT Madras as six final-year B.Tech (computer science) students - Aparna Krishnan, Pradeep Kumar, Madhavi Y, Sujith Gokul, Saheel Ram and Nitin M - from the institute bagged the $150,000 (approximately Rs 82 lakh) annual pay package from Samsung Electronics Company Ltd.
“I have no words to express my happiness. I am one of those who has created a record in IIT’s placement history. During the interview, Samsung officials asked me about operating systems, networking, data analysis and other latest innovations in the IT field. I am undecided about whether to work in South Korea or in the US,” gushed Aparna Krishnan, a Chennaiite.
Saheel Ram said as he was good in programming, he would join Samsung’s programming team to develop new products.
Pointing out that he would add more value to the company with his programming skills in Python and Java Script, Sujith Gokul said his project in natural language processing helped him get selected.
B. Nagarajan, deputy registrar (training and placement), IIT Madras, announced the results late night.
