Six members of family drown while immersing Ganesha idol

Six members of a family in Rajkot drowned while immersing Lord Ganesha's idol on Thursday, according to fire brigade official.

The accident happened when a family of Laxmi Nagar area went to Aji River to immerse the Ganesha idol, said the official.

Nine members of the family jumped into the river to save others, who fell into the water during the idol immersion. Six of them perished trying to save others, while three were rescued and rushed to the Civil Hospital.

The deceased were identified as Ramesh C. Tank (40), Puja (18), Sunny (12), Anil (15), Krishna (18) and Mahesh Tank (20).
