SMK happy with ‘fruitful’ Pak visit
Indian external affairs minister S.M. Krishna said on Sunday said that his visit to Pakistan has been fruitful and will be helpful in building stronger ties between the two nuclear armed neighbours.
“My Pakistan visit has been fruitful one for better and stronger relations between Pakistan and India. I am happy with the visit,” said Mr Krishna.
Talking to reporters in Lahore, the external affairs minister said that his visit was one of the links to make Pak-India relations peaceful and friendly.
He said Indian people and the leadership in India, including the Prime Minister, have the earnest desire to see a prosperous, stable and strong Pakistan as a neighbour.
The minister said a strong and prosperous Pakistan is in the favour of the region.
Mr Krishna said he signed a number of agreements with Pakistan, including visa liberation, cultural promotion and all these will help foster a much cordial relationship with Pakistan.
Later, he separately met Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab governor Sardar Mohammad Latif Khan Khosa.
Mr Krishna met the Punjab chief minister at the Chief Minister’s House during which both the leaders discussed bilateral issues between the two countries.
Mr Shahbaz Sharif said that talks between Pakistan and India should include all outstanding issues.
Mr Krishna also held a meeting with the Punjab governor during and said that India wants to maintain good neighbourly relations with Pakistan.
