SMK reads Portuguese FM speech
New Delhi, Feb. 12: It was an innocent mistake, but one which caused the external affairs minister, Mr S.M. Krishna, embarrassment.
Addressing the UN Security Council in New York on Friday, the minister inadvertently began reading from the wrong text and realised his error only after a few minutes into his speech.
Instead of reading from his prepared text, Mr Krishna read out from a copy of the previous speaker’s (Portuguese foreign minister Luis Amado) speech that was left behind on the podium.
Mr Hardeep Singh Puri, the permanent representative of India to the United Nations in New York, detected the error after Mr Krishna read a few lines.
