Sohail driver runs SUV over woman

In an incident that has spawned reminders of actor Salman Khan’s rash driving incident in 2002, his brother Sohail Khan’s driver was arrested on Monday for running over a 70-year-old pavement dweller while making an illegal U-turn near Salman’s residence late on Sunday night.
According to the police sources, the incident occurred at around 10.45 pm near Salman’s Carter Road residence on Sunday.
“Sohail’s driver Dhananjay Pimple left Salman’s residence to pick up Sohail but realised mid-way that he had forgotten his umbrella and lunch box. He decided to turn back and took an illegal U-turn near St. Andrew’s Church. In the process, he veered too close to the pavement and ran over a homeless woman sleeping on the road,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police, Zone IX.
Pimple fled the scene without waiting to see the damage he had done. However, two Santa Cruz residents, Yash Shah and Rakesh Shukla, saw the incident and stopped to help.
