Some cops helping Pandey?

The CBI suspects that a few Gujarat police officials may be allegedly assisting additional director-general of police P.P. Pandey escape arrest in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. Pandey has been declared a proclaimed absconder in the case and a non-bilabial warrant is pending against him that was issued by the trial court on August 7. According to CBI sources, there is an effort to identify such Gujarat police officials, if any.
The agency is on the lookout for Pandey, who is facing murder charges in the case.

Kamduni rape-murder: Trial moved out of Barasat

Kolkata, Aug. 12

The Calcutta high court on Monday ordered the transfer of the Kamduni rape-cum-murder case to a fast track court in Kolkata for its speedy trial from the Barasat court in North 24 Parganas. The decision came after the accused expressed their fear that constant angry protests by the angry villagers outside the court premises may influence the trial.
While giving his ruling into the petition of Firoze Edulji, lawyer of the accused, Justice Asim Kumar Roy observed the culprits’ apprehension was not baseless.
