Sonia announces compensation for Islamnagar firing victims

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday announced compensation of1 lakh for the family of the person who was killed and25,000 each to those seriously injured in Islamnagar police firing at anti-demolition protesters.

"The AICC president on Wednesday announced to give1 lakh from party fund to the family of the person who was killed in the police firing during the administration's anti-encroachment drive here on Tuesday", AICC Spokesman, Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here.

"We'll hand over the amount to the family members during the day," he added.

The party would also give25,000 each to two seriously injured persons and10,000 each to seven other injured.

Ahmed visited the demolished sites as well as the injured persons.
