Sonia: Race for power must end
Expressing concern over the present state of affairs in the country, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said, the race for power and pelf, which after a certain limit translates into mere pursuit of greed, must end now.
Speaking at a function to release a postal stamp in the memory of freedom fighter Chaudhary Ranbir Singh, Mrs Gandhi said, “Today, people are engaged in a blind race for gaining wealth and a high post. I get a feeling that we have drifted away from the ideals of the Independence struggle and that of our ancestors.”
She reminded the audience that the late Ranbir Singh took a decision to retire from active politics at the age of 64.
