SP men go berserk, cops look on helplessly

Samajwadi Party leaders refuse to mend their way despite innumerable warnings by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Samajwadi Party workers, celebrating the appointment of their leader, Haji Ikram Qureshi, as chairperson of the Essential Commodities Corporation in Moradabad, were caught on camera on snatching the cap of a police official and wearing it during a dance on the streets.
Supporters of the SP leader were also seen throwing currency notes along the way while the cops looked on helplessly.
Haji Ikram Qureshi was recently appointed the chairman of the Essential Commodities Corporation and given a minister of state rank. His supporters took out a massive procession to celebrate his homecoming to Moradabad after the appointment.
Later, on Thursday, one person was arrested for throwing up the police official’s cap and wearing it while the cope whose cap was “picked up” has been suspended.
For the Samajwadi workers, celebration of an event invariably means creating a public nuisance and mocking at the law.
Earlier in March, SP MLA Shakir Ali grabbed headlines when he galloped on a horse on the platform of the Deoria railway station to celebrate his victory in elections. For about 20 minutes, there was panic at the railway station while the SP leader galloped to and fro.
Then it was another SP MLA, now minister, Mehboob Ali whose supporters fired in the air for more than a hour in Amroha to celebrate the formation of the government. amajwadi Party workers also went on rampage at several places beating up rivals and journalists in Jhansi, setting afire houses of BSP supporters in Sitapur and killing a five year old boy in celebrity firing in Sambhal.
More recently, a youth leader from the SP was booked for stalking a girl in the neighbourhood.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
