SP prepares list of erring bureaucrats in UP
Bureaucrats in Uttar Pradesh had better beware. The Samajwadi Party has started drawing up a list of officers who are working as agents of the ruling BSP in the state capital as well as in the districts.
“This time when we come to power, we will make sure that these officers get duly punished. Some of the officers have crossed all limits of decency and dignity and are behaving just like BSP workers. They have been abusive towards legislators, more so, if they happen to belong to Opposition parties, and are deliberately targeting our party workers,” said a senior SP leader.
The list, according to the leader, includes some officers from the chief minister’s secretariat and also those posted in the districts.
“We are compiling the list on the basis of complaints received from our party workers. To ensure that officers are not targeted without adequate reasons, we are also cross-checking the complaints. In fact, we have now asked our party cadres to collect information about corrupt officers also,” the leader added.
According to SP sources, an estimated 5,500 party workers have been implicated in false criminal cases in the past three years.
Apart from party workers at the district and village levels, even SP legislators have not been spared. The latest example is that of Anup Sanda, SP MLA from Sultanpur, who has been booked for rape.
Another SP MLA Vijay Misra has been booked in the attack on BSP minister Nand Gopal Nandi and has also been declared an absconder.
