SP questions BSP drive on criminals

The Samajwadi Party on Monday questioned the Bahujan Samaj Party’s drive against criminals and said that if the anti-criminal drive was genuine then why no action was being taken against “established” criminals in the BSP.

Talking to reporters on Monday, Leader of Opposition Shivpal Singh Yadav said that unless criminals were thrown out of the party and the government the drive would lack credibility.
“The BSP in fact, has become a safe haven for criminals in Uttar Pradesh. BSP leaders, MPs and MLAs are happily indulging in property grabbing and related economic offences but no action is being taken against them. If the chief minister did expel 500 criminals form her party as she claims, then why is the list of expelled persons not being made public?” he asked.
Releasing a list of criminals in the BSP, Mr Yadav said that BSP MLA D.P. Yadav is now being defended in court by the state government. Mr Yadav is accused of attempting to poison Ajay Katara, a key witness in the Nitish Katara murder case in which Mr D.P. Yadav’s son Vikas is an accused.
