SP revokes expulsion of Azam
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday revoked the expulsion of Mohammed Azam Khan, paving the way for his return into the party of which he was one of the founder members.
SP national general secretary, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, wrote a letter to Mr Khan informing him about Mr Mulayam Yadav’s decision to revoke his suspension, party sources said.
“I am extremely happy to inform you that SP national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has revoked your expulsion from the party. You are requested to continue to serve the party like before,” the letter said.
Mr Khan was unavailable for comment.
The revocation of the expulsion ends the one-and-a-half year political exile of Mr Khan who was expelled from the Samajwadi Party in May last year after the Lok Sabha elections after he fiercely opposed the candidature of Ms Jaya Prada from Rampur.
Mr Khan did not see eye to eye with Mr Amar Singh, who was then calling the shots in the Samajwadi Party, and was also highly critical of the party’s alliance with former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kalyan Singh.
