Speaker, CM to be impleaded in disqualification case: HC
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court today allowed the applications filed by five independent MLAs, seeking to implead Speaker K G Bopaiah and Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, in the case challenging their disqualification from the Assembly membership.
The orders were pronounced by the bench, comprising Justice Mohan Shantanagoudar, Justice S Abdul Nazeer and Justice A S Bopanna, which also allowed the independents to amend their petition and application for additional grounds.
The orders were seen as some relief for the independents - P M Narendraswamy, Shivaraj Thangadagi, Gulihatti D Shekhar, Venkataramanappa and D Sudhakar, as the court orders on the four applications were in their favour.
The Court ordered the counsel for petitioners to file the consolidated petition by tomorrow and other side to file objections by November 22 and posted final hearing to November 29
The independents, in their application, had prayed to amend the petition to replace the sentence 'the petitioners had never left the BJP' with 'the petitioners had not joined the BJP at all', contending that the original sentence was an 'inadvertent mistake'.
