Special attention to K’taka: Gadkari
BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has sent out a clear message to Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s detractors at the Centre, by asking Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and party’s trouble shooter Arun Jaitley to correct Karnataka affair. Sources said by asking Mr Jaitley to give “special attention” to the state’s affairs, the BJP chief has sent out a message to Mr Yeddyurappa detractors not to create more mess in the state. Sources disclosed the decision on Mr Jaitley was taken after Mr Yeddyurappa told the BJP chief that he “can handle the situation in the state” if the top brass can “keep a check” on the anti-BSY camp in the Central leadership. Mr Jaitley, it was learnt, will also assist Mr Gadkari who had recently announced that he would look into the allegations against the Karnataka chief minister. Mr Gadkari is likely to visit the state next week. Party general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as Karnataka incharge.
Mr Jaitley has been asked to give “special attention” to Karnataka whose chief minister is battling against Opposition pressure to quit after he was charged with corruption and nepotism. The Karnataka government has announced judicial probe into allegations against Mr Yeddyurappa.
It could be mentioned here that Mr Yeddyurappa last week met Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj after some media reports suggested he criticised her and national general secretary Ananth Kumar for working against him, during a meeting with the BJP chief. Ms Swaraj is considered close to the Reddy brothers who hold ministerial berth in the state government and are known detractors of Mr Yeddyurappa.
