Srikrishna panel will give multiple options
The Srikrishna Committee that was tasked to go into the contentious Telangana statehood issue on Tuesday declared that it will be giving multiple options in its report, along with their pros and cons. The panel also claimed that the report will satisfy the maximum number of people the utmost. Justice Srikrishna is likely to submit the
report on December 30 to Union home minister P. Chidambaram. Vinod K. Duggal, the member secretary of the committee, when asked about the choices being given by the report, said, “Several options with their pros and cons.” Without going into the details of the report, Mr Duggal said, “Hopefully, the largest number of people will have the highest sense of satisfaction with the report. I hope we will achieve that.”
Addressing a press conference here in the capital, Justice Srikrishna echoed the views of Mr Duggal. He also exuded optimism that the report will bring out a permanent solution to the controversial issue. “I hope it will bring out a permanent solution,” said the former Supreme Court judge.
Calling on the media to ensure that no untoward incident took place after the submission of the report, Mr Duggal also pointed to the assurances given by political parties that they will maintain peace and harmony.
He said, “I hope peace prevails in the state after the report is submitted. It is the responsibility of the politicians and the media.”
