Vijayawada: There will be no bifurcation of the state and the central government cannot take any decision without Assembly resolution, said MP Lagadapati Rajagopal.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, the MP said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh made it clear that no decision will be taken without concensus on the Telangana issue. He said that he is going to meet Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu during his tour in Krishna district on January 21 as part of Vastunna Meeko-sam to apprise him of the water disputes that are likely to occur if the state is divided. He said that he would release a CD of NTR speeches in support of united Andhra Pradesh.
He said that as majority of the income generates from Hydrabad the implementation of welfare programmes would not be possible in Andhra region if the state is divided. He said people of all sections including government employees, students and farmers are demanding united Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to TRS leader KCR’s comments on referendum, Mr Rajagopal said that KCR should prove his majority in the coming general elections. He said KCR should contest from Hyderabad or Secundera-bad to know the strength through a referendum. He said majority of the people in Hyderabad are supporting united Andhra Prad-esh. He said that KCR visited Delhi and met several Congress leaders to get the support for Telangana and offered to merge his party in Congress. But the Cong-ress cannot take a decision without amending the wo-rking committee decision on bifurcation of states.
The MP said that majority of the parties supported division of the state in the all-party meet and the decision would not get majority support in the Assembly resolution on the issue. He said that the people supporting Samaikyandhra would give a silent reply and they would not stage agitations against bifurcation of the state.
