Stir against demand for capitation fee
Chennai: Parents and SFI activists staged a protest at the government higher secondary school in MGR Nagar here following allegations of the school headmaster demanding capitation fee during admissions in the last two months.
SFI activist D. Chandru said, “Since two months, the parents have been complaining of this unethical practice. This morning, we protested in front of the school.”According to sources, the school management demanded capitation fee ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 for admissions.
The management is also alleged to have demanded money from students to be promoted to the next class.The SFI activists and the parents have demanded a refund of the capitation fee taken illegally by the school authorities and punish the headmaster for unethical activity.
The headmaster was unavailable for comment.The SFI activists have threatened to go on a road roko in front of the school on Thursday .
