Stir over CAG report on Bihar
The Rajya Sabha on Monday witnessed heated arguments between NDA and LJP-RJD MPs during Zero Hour, following which the house had to be adjourned for 10 minutes.
As soon as LJP chief Mr Ramvilas Paswan stood up to raise the issue of CAG report findings of financial irregularities in Bihar, Leader of Opposition Mr Arun Jaitley raised a point of order saying the issue is a state subject. He also said that the CAG report cannot be discussed in any House till the Public Accounts Committee examines it.
Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan disallowed it following objections from Mr Jaitley.
Mr Paswan, his party colleague Sabir Ali and RJD members Prem Chand Gupta, Jabir Hussain and Rajniti Prasad were on their feet, insisting that they would raise the issue without mentioning CAG report. But BJP members objected to this. As the din continued, the Chair adjourned the House for 10 minutes. When the House reassembled, Mr Paswan persisted with his demand but BJP members objected to the demand. At this point of time, the Chair asked the LJP leader to give a separate notice if he wanted to discuss the issue without referring to the CAG report.
