Stop liquor flow: Collector
Vijayawada: Panchayat elections chief observer Kadmiel on Monday appealed to political parties to extend their cooperation for the smooth conduct of the elections.
Kadmiel said that the election code of conduct would also be applied to the officials. He said the election campaign should be stopped at 5 pm on July 21. The vehicle drivers should get permission from concerned tahsildars, he added.
When some leaders brought the duplication of voters names in voters list to the notice of election observer, he said that it would not be possible to correct the voters list at present as election notification was issued.
Election observer Raghunandana Rao sought the cooperation of all political leaders to stop flow of liquor. Collector Budhaprakash M. Jyothi said that the excise officials should take initiative to stop the flow of illicit liquor. He said bandobust would be improved at village level for the peaceful conduct of polls.
Krishna district SP J. Prabhakara Rao said 11 check posts have been set up and bind over cases were booked on 1,522 persons. Police commissioner B. Srinivasulu said political leaders should take prior permission for rallies.
