Stray dogs feed on decomposed body
An unidentified, decomposed body of a woman, flesh eaten by stray dogs, was found in Pallikaranai on Wednesday morning. “Only on the left arm some flesh was remaining. All other parts, including internal parts, were either decomposed or eaten by dogs. We had to fight with the dogs to save what remained of the body,” the police said, and added that the body must have been lying in Perumbakkam, not far away from a few construction sites, for nearly four days.
A team from the Pallikaranai police station rushed to the spot on coming to know that stray dogs were feeding on a human body. “We also called the forensic people to the spot, located nearly 200 metres from the main road. The body was dragged by the dogs nearly 20 feet from where it was originally dumped,” police sources said.
The sources said it could be the body of a woman aged around 35. “It is not clear if the body was dumped there after she was murdered somewhere else. It could be also a case of unnatural death. The woman could have committed suicide. The remains of the body were sent to Chromepet GH for post-mortem,” the police said.
When asked about the delay in locating the body, the police claimed that it was found in an isolated area in Perumbakkam and the locals had not seen it till Tuesday morning. Only after a foul smell started emanating from the area did some people notice the decomposed body. “We went to the spot based on the VAO’s information,” the police said.
