Student brings 'proxy' to help him crack GMAT - massive score in just 21 minutes
A student got another man to write the GMAT and scored high marks at a leading test centre in the city. Following this the test centre complained to the city police that some of its employees allegedly helped the candidate in the malpractice.
GMAT score is a must for admission to US business schools.
The incident occurred at Pearson Professional Centre on Dickenson Road on January 27. Going through the CCTV footage, the officials found that the candidate, Shivanshu Kariya of Indore, had colluded with test administrators Alister Noel D’souza and Shanky Joesph for the act.
Instead of Shivanshu, a turbaned man wrote the test.
Cyber crime sleuths have stared the hunt for Shivanshu, the two staff members and the impersonator.
A senior police officer said Pearson has complained to the police that some administrators and other staff members of the test centre were helping GMAT candidates indulge in malpractice.
The CCTV recordings, between 3.15 pm and 3.36 pm, show Shivanshu going out of the room, and the impersonator getting in and writing the test. Shivanshu scored 680 out of 800 in the January 27 test, which was a very high score compared to his earlier scores of 300 and 350, the officer said.
The impersonator scored the marks by answering the test in 21 minutes.
A Pearson officer suspects that some unscrupulous elements are luring candidates promising them high GMAT scores by charging exorbitant sums.
