Student dies in jet-ski accident
A 21-year-old medical student from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, was killed in a tragic water sports accident in North Goa’s Baga beach on Saturday evening. According to the police, Shreyas Makhija, along with six other friends had arrived in Goa a week back. On Saturday evening, Makhija and his friend Sanjay Raut went on a ride on a jet-ski at Baga. While returning back to shore, the jet-ski operator swerved suddenly and both Makhija and Mr Raut were thrown overboard.

6 of family die in LPG blast

Dec. 19: In a tragic incident, six persons of one family were charred to death on Sunday morning in Kanpur after a blast in the LPG cylinder.
The incident took place in the Nazirabad area where the wife of Ram Shabad Sharma was preparing tea for the family. The wife accidentally left the knob of the stove open and when she attempted to reignite the stove, the cylinder exploded. “All the six people, who were living in a one-room accommodation, were charred to death as its roof made of plastic sheets caught fire,” said DIG Ashok Mutha Jain.

Two dalit girls burnt to death
Moradabad, Dec. 19: Two sisters belonging to the dalit community were allegedly charred to death in Kothiwal Nagar here by a mob protesting a double murder for which their brother has been accused. According to the girls’ mother Rajo, a mob gathered outside their house and set it ablaze. While she escaped unhurt, her daughters Gita and Monu were charred to death. —PTI
