Students confess killing of Joint secretary of college

Six college students have confessed the police of murdering a 47-year-old Joint Secretary of a private College in Coimbatore, who is also a turmeric merchant, on Saturday.

The body of Elangovan, with sttab injuries, was found floating in Kalingarayan canal near Mannadampalayam, about 35 kms from here, the next day.

Elangovan, who was residing at Coimbatore with his family, came to him farm house at Kumarasamy Guoundenpalayam near here on Saturday in a jeep with six students.

The servent of the house noticed on Sunday that Elangavan was missing from the house. He also found blood stains in several places in the house and informed the police.

The body was later found in the canal. His jeep was also traced near Avinashi with six students.

The students confessed to police that killed Elangovan by beating him with sticks after he refused to spare some money to them. After the murder, they threw the body in the canal, police said.
