Students protest after 3rd suicide
The suicide note of Nikki Kumari, a 15-year-old school student who committed suicide in Patna on Friday, was addressed to her brother, said sources. Meanwhile, the PMCH authorities on Friday formed an eight-member committee to look into the allegations of ragging by seniors behind the suicide of a first-year MBBS student Roshan Kumar on Wednesday. The committee would submit its report to the state government in ten days, said PMCH principal M.P. Yadav.
AISA-led protests erupted on the PMCH campus with allegations that the premier medical institute’s anti-ragging cell had been completely ineffective and had no student as its member in contravention of the rules. “The authorities have been using students like machines and suppressing them, thus causing prompting and depression,” said AISA leader Abhyuday.
