Stung by protest, authorities slap FIR against snake charmer
A snake charmer, who protested by dumping bags of snakes in a revenue office claiming that officials had demanded bribe for land allotment, has been slapped with an FIR by authorities.
"FIR has been lodged against Hakkul and his accomplice Ramchet for hindering government work and under sections of the Forest Conservation Act," Sub-divisional Magistrate Ranvijay Singh said on Friday.
Rejecting the allegations that the staff was demanding money for allotment of land, the SDM said that Hakkul had ‘never met him for the purpose’.
On Tuesday, snake charmer Hakkul, who claimed to have been working for conservation of snakes, had alleged that revenue department staff were demanding bribe for allotment of land and had let loose over a dozen snakes inside the office of revenue inspector. He had alleged that for conservation work he wrote a letter to the President to allot additional land on which the government last year directed the local administration to complete formalities.
