Suicide bid by 3 U.P. medical students
Three medical students of the famous Ganesh Shankar Vidy-arthi Medical College in Kanpur tried to commit suicide by consuming poison on Friday night.
All the three students, namely Vivek Gautam, Shobhit and Sanjeev Kumar, are dalits and have been admitted to the ICU in Hallet hospital where their condition is said to be critical.
The three are second year MBBS students at the medical college.

Rural team meets plan panel on energy schemes

Losing patience with the progress of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyu-tikaran Yojana (RGGVY) rural electrification scheme, a team of village representatives from Bihar and UP have asked the Planning Commission to increase the scope for renewable energy in the flagship scheme.
Members of the Planning Commission, who listened to the delegation from Bihar’s Madhubani and Saran districts and UP’s Azamgarh district in New Delhi on Friday, assured them that their recommendations and the res-ults of the social audits on RGGVY would be considered for the 12th Five-Year Plan. The rural representatives urged the commission members to increase the scope for decentrali-sed renewable energy in the RGGVY,” said Green-peace India campaigner Arpana Udupa

Four killed in Gujarat dairy explosion
Gandhinagar, Sept. 3: At least four people were killed and twenty injured in an explosion in a dairy in Mehsana town of Gujarat Saturday, a minister said here.
State urban development minister Nitin Patel, who hails from the town, said 17 of the injured have been admitted to hospital. The explosion was reported in the boiler of Dudhsagar dairy and ten fire tenders have been rushed to the spot amidst reports of a leak of ammonia gas in the plant. — IANS
